The first Welsh woman to climb Everest and the youngest person to race to the north magnetic pole TORI JAMES will help you to over-come your inertia and inspire you to start your own adventures! Not only will you gain an insight into Tori’s life in extreme environments but Tori will also talk about how she turned her dreams into reality and share her passion for achieving goals against the odds.
TORI JAMES began work with the British Schools Exploring Society (BSES Expeditions), based at the Royal Geographical Society (RGS) in London. It was during her time there that she became part of The Pink Lady PoleCats, the first ever all-female team to complete The Polar Challenge, a grueling 360 mile race to the Magnetic North Pole. The team finished in 6th position out of 16 teams, having raced through polar bear territory in temperatures as low as -40°C.
Two years later, on 24th May 2007, Tori climbed to the summit of Mount Everest. In doing so, she became the youngest British female (at 25) and the first ever Welsh woman to reach the summit.
Most recently Tori took to two wheels and cycled the length of New Zealand, a total of 2400km from north to south.
Tori currently works for the Sport Wales which aims to get every young person hooked on sport for life.
